Police have declared a ‘serious incident’ following reports of a shooting involving a school pupil in Suffolk.

Police are currently at the scene of a “serious incident” in Kesgrave, where they responded to reports of a shooting in Grange Farm just after 8.40am on Monday.

Kesgrave High School has said in a tweet the incident involves “one of our Year 11 students, on their way to school”. The school added: “Students in school are safe and we are managing the situation in constant, close communication with the police.”

Suffolk Police have said Friends Walk and Through Jollys are completely closed off and there is a partial closure on Ropes Drive.

Members of the public are advised to avoid these areas.

A spokesperson for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance confirmed an air ambulance was sent out to the area this morning.

Local bus operator First Ipswich tweeted: “We’re aware of a serious police incident on Grange farm. At the moment our buses are running on their normal routes and to time. We’ll update on here if we have to adjust any services.”

Residents in the area took to Twitter to report a large police presence on the farm. A police cordon has been put in place and a person was seen receiving medical attention at the scene.
