A major police search has been launched after a schoolgirl went missing overnight in Scotland.

Rhya Laidlaw was last spotted in her hometown of Leven in Fife on Friday at around 8am.

Officers have carried out extensive inquiries to locate the teen but so far all attempts have been unsuccessful.

Rhya was wearing a grey-coloured puffer anorak, scarf, black leggings and suede mustard Adidas trainers.

Police Scotland are reviewing CCTV to locate Rhya who has connections in the south-west area of Fife.

The force have now launched a public appeal to trace the missing teen and urge anyone with information to call Levenmouth Police Station.

Rhya is white and around 5ft 4ins in height with a slight build.

She has brown eyes and brown hair that is long and straight.
