Earlier in 2018, it was reported that the security for Princess Eugenie’s wedding alone was going to cost the taxpayer in the region of £2million.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s carriage ride around Windsor will be substantially shorter than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s, but there will still be an eye-watering cost to protect the pair.

But security is only one element of Princess Eugenie’s Royal wedding cost.

Hamish Shephard, founder of wedding planning app Bridebook, calculated that the cost of Princess Eugenie’s wedding will be around £2,684,020.

Mr Shephard included costs of £100,000 for catering, a further £84,500 for drinks, £85,000 for a marquee big enough to hold her 850 guests and £5,600 for a wedding cake.

Eugenie, who does not carry out regular Royal engagements on behalf of the Queen, is expected to walk down the aisle in a Stella McCartney dress which could cost in the region of £200,000, with an added £2,700 for hair and makeup.

While the groomsmen and bridesmaids are only expected to spend a mere £11,050 on their wedding attire.

The soon-to-be Royal couple will splash an astonishing £17,000 on a wedding photographer and a staggering £30,000 for stationery which includes wedding invitations.

These came with a special touch and included a quote from Nelson Mandela, as well as the family’s coat of arms printed in gold ink.

Another big cost will be the wedding flowers, which are projected to cost around £100,000.

Mr Shephard calculated that the Royal couple could also spend up to £25,000 on music, £16,000 on toilets, £1,000 on wedding favours, £170 on church fess and £6,000 on rings.

The founder of Bridebook told the Daily Mail: “After Meghan and Harry’s wedding was the most viewed wedding in history, a second Royal wedding at Windsor is certainly going to attract another global audience.

“With Eugenie and Jack both attendees at Harry and Meghan’s wedding at Windsor Castle earlier in the year, they will certainly want to differentiate their day to celebrate their individuality and have their personalities demonstrated throughout the wedding details.

“After Meghan broke tradition by walking herself down the aisle, and by having a gospel choir and her now infamous preacher, Eugenie will be delighted to have the freedom to do exactly what she wants.

“Whilst Meghan and Harry’s wedding was an international spectacular, Eugenie and Jack will be having a more homely occasion celebrating the best of Britain, but with an equally star studded guest list.”

The sum for the wedding was calculated based on analysis from over 170,000 weddings as well as a review of over 70,000 industry suppliers’ price estimates.

The price tag for Eugenie’s wedding is dwarfed by the estimated £34million for Meghan and Prince Harry’s big day.
