Thomas Markle and his 51-year-old son Thomas Markle Jr’s meeting is said to have “gone better than expected”.

The pair had not seen each other in years, but relations grew tense when the Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother wrote an open letter to Prince Harry telling the 33-year-old not to marry his “jaded, shallow and conceited” sister.

Mr Markle, 73, was so infuriated by his childrens’ intervention, he even blamed his son and eldest daughter Samantha Grant for his ill-health after he suffered a heart attack, which forced him to pull out of his daughter’s Royal Wedding.

And while the reunion went well, sources said a reconciliation “will take time”.

A source told the Mail Online: “They met up and it went better than expected. This has been going on since before Meghan and Harry started dating.

“Reconciliation will take time but Tom Jr and Tom Sr really need to make peace with each other.”

Ms Grant, 53, hit out at her brother’s meeting with their father on Twitter and accused him of setting up the reconciliation for money.

She wrote: “My brother did NOT reunite with my dad – it was a set up. You paid Tom Jr him (sic) go stalk at the border and Jr was turned away.”

It comes after Meghan Markle’s father claimed the Royal Family have distanced themselves since he opened up about Prince Harry’s political views during a bombshell interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

He said he feels he has been “put in a penalty box” following his chat with presenter Piers Morgan.

Mr Markle told TMZ: “If the Queen is willing to meet our arrogant and insensitive president she has no excuse not to meet me, I’m nowhere near as bad.”

The 73-year-old this month revealed what his son-in-law Prince Harry, 33, really thinks of US President Donald Trump in an explosive tell-all interview.

The retired lighting director told how the Duke of Sussex said Mr Trump should be given a “chance” and that he was “open to the experiment of Brexit” during their private conversations.

The explosive interview is said to have upset the Queen and infuriated Buckingham Palace officials.

And now Mr Markle fears he has been frozen out by the Firm as his daughter, the new Duchess of Sussex, adjusts to her new royal life.
