Meghan is expected to visit the US in the coming weeks in order to see friends and family following her whirlwind year, which has seen the former actress transition seamlessly into her Royal role.

She is expected to visit multiple destinations to see a string of A-list friends, including tennis ace Serena Williams and film star Priyanka Chopra, who live in Florida and New York respectively.

However a leading Royal commentator warned the chances of the Meghan visiting her father at his residence in Rosarito in Mexico are slim, due to the threat of Mr Markle commenting on their meeting to the media.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “There are rumours that Meghan is making a private solo trip to the US in the near future.”

He acknowledged that Meghan’s trip to the US “might well provide an opportunity for her to see her father and to heal the breach”.

However he noted the “chances of reconciliation are slim”, due to the possibility of any private moments between himself, Meghan and Prince Harry “being made public”.

He added Mr Markle’s numerous comments to the media, including critical statements surrounding his daughter and the Royal Family, had been “extremely destructive”.

The Royal expert said: “He was highly unwise to give an interview to Piers Morgan and thus open the door to the insatiable media appetite for comment about Meghan and the Royal Family.”

He also noted that if a meeting were to take place, it would likely not occur at Mr Markle’s residence in Rosarito due to “security reasons”.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Mr Markle claimed Meghan had totally cut him out of her life and stated they had not spoken for over ten weeks.

The retired television lighting director also noted he had no way of contacting his daughter after Royal aides cut off all telephone links in the wake of previous comments made to the media regarding the Royal Family.

Mr Markle said: “I’m really hurt that she’s cut me off completely.

“I used to have a phone number and text number for her personal aides at the Palace, but after I said a few critical words about the Royal Family changing Meghan, they cut me off.”

Mr Markle came under sharp criticism after it was revealed he was paid for a set of staged paparazzi photographs ahead of the Royal wedding in May.

He noted a Royal aide said the photos had “offended the Royal Family” and called on him to offer an apology.

Mr Fitzwilliams nevertheless expressed his hope that a reconciliation would take place, but underlined the lack of clarity over when that may take place.

He concluded: “It is in everyone’s interest to hope that there is a reunion.

“Nobody seems to know how this will play out.”
