This Morning viewers have shared their confusion after tuning into today’s episode.
The ITV daytime show is usually hosted by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on a Friday, but instead fans were greeted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
It also kicked off with Britain’s Got Talent winner Jon Courtenay on piano and Alison Hammond dressed up as a Fairy Godmother, leaving many wondering what was going on.
Commenting, one viewer wrote: “How come Phil and Holly are presenting This Morning? It’s confusing my little brain as to what day it is!”
Another viewer added: “What on earth is this? #ThisMorning.”
However, it’s all for good reason and Eamonn and Ruth along with the rest of the This Morning crew will be making appearances throughout the day.
This Morning are putting on their very own pantomime, complete with Holly as Cinderella, Alison as Fairy Godmother and Phil as Buttons.
Ruth and Eamonn will play Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, while Joanna Lumley stars at the wicked step-mother and agony aunts Deidre and Vanessa are the step-sisters.
The festive extravaganza is a nod to the arts, who have been hugely impacted by the current climate, as well an attempt to bring Christmas cheer to the nation.
Phillip said: “With so many pantomimes cancelled across the country we are hoping to raise your spirit today with our very own This Morning panto.”
Holly added: “It’s been an incredibly difficult year for theatre and the arts but to help us pull off today’s panto we are proud to be working alongside choreographers, scriptwriters, costume designers and dancers who have all had their productions cancelled this year.”
Delighted, one viewer wrote: “If you need cheering up… turn on ITV immediately where the @thismorning team are supporting the arts in their own special way and giving panto a shot.
