Storm Christoph is heading for England today – with a string of flood alerts and warnings in place across the country, from the Midlands to further afield.
Birmingham and the Midlands will be hit by a downturn in weather today amid Met Office warnings, with forecasts suggesting as much as nine hours worth could fall on Tuesday alone.
Parts of Worcestershire have already raised flood barriers over the impending rainfall, which is predicted to batter the Midlands on January 19.
Torrential downpours are expected across the city and wider West Mids region as the city and surrounding area are soaked by pummelling rain.
Meteorologists have issued warnings and urged caution, amid a risk of localised flooding and the potential for communities to be cut off.
A ‘danger to life’ weather warning is in place across Birmingham from Tuesday until 3am Thursday.
With schools closed due to Covid-19, thousands of children in Birmingham are in need of laptops to continue their learning.
They are falling behind in their studies through no fault of their own – because they are unable to access lessons being put on by schools.
BirminghamLive is supporting efforts, through the Digital Education Partnership, to raise funds and laptop donations to support pupils and get them learning again.
