Tesla CEO Elon Musk says girlfriend Grimes has a top-tier parenting role admitting, “There’s not much I can do” during his son’s newborn stage.
Musk and the musician Grimes welcomed their son X Æ A-Xii in early May. But in an interview with the New York Times, Mr Musk said he has very little to do with looking after his two-month-old. The SpaceX founder also has five children with his first wife, Justine Wilson.
In the interview, Musk described babies as “just eating and pooping machines”, and said he doesn’t have much to do with his new son at the moment.
He added: “Right now there’s not much I can do.
“Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now.
“When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.”
Musk went on to say that he will most likely do “what I’ve done with my other kids”.
He added: “If I have a trip for Tesla to China, for example, I’ll bring the kids with me and we’ll go see the Great Wall or we took the bullet train from Beijing to Xian and saw the Terracotta Warriors.”
He also claimed that more people should have children, and said: “I think babies are supercool and really people need to have more babies because, it sounds obvious, but if people don’t have enough babies, humanity will disappear.”
Grimes and Musk have been dating since 2018, first going public as a couple at that year’s Met Gala.
In the same interview, Mr Musk spoke about his love for the artist.
He said: “Yeah, she’s pretty special, that’s for sure.
“She’s one of the most unusual people I’ve ever met.”
