Nineties hitmaker DJ Erick Morillo passed away aged 49 in August 2020, with an autopsy report now suggesting that the musician died after taking illegal substances.
DJ Erick Morillo’s death is said to have been caused by an “acute ketamine toxicity”.
The world-famous producer was found dead at his home in Miami Beach on September 1, but it is believed he died in August with his death initially going undetected.
Erick, famed for his hit I Like To Move It, which topped charts across the globe in January 1994, was just 48 at the time of his death.
The track remains his biggest record to date, raking in over 10million views on YouTube and featuring in several TV shows and film franchises.
His cause of death was confirmed to E! News by a Miami-Dade medical examiner.
The examiner went on to say that Erick’s death had been ruled as an accident.
His death came two weeks after he pleaded not guilty to sexual battery – he was arrested and charged over the incident which was alleged to have happened at his Miami Beach home back in December 2019.
