The Importance of Staying Hydrated For Better Health

The human body is made up of approximately two thirds water by weight. Staying hydrated is essential to a healthy body. A person can not stay healthy if they don’t replace water loss daily. If they get too dehydrated they will die.

Water is lost or eliminated daily through urine, sweat, feces, and from evaporation from the lungs and skin. Water is a very important component in helping maintain body temperature and it does this by releasing excess heat through the bodies largest organ the skin with perspiration and evaporation.

On average the human body obtains approximately 50% of its water intake from drinking fluids, the other 50% comes from eating foods and the bodies metabolic activities from internal chemical reactions.

Be sure to drink plenty of water daily, eight 8 oz. glasses or more depending on your activity level. The more you do the more you need to replace the expelled water reserve.
