Could online therapy be better for mental health patients?

Many people suffer from some form of mental illness whether it is depression, a form of anxiety, or an even worse form of mental health, schizophrenia. There are many more forms of mental illnesses than that but those are just to name a few. There are even people who go undiagnosed because they either can’t afford treatment or they don’t want to go see a doctor in public and face their problems head-on.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? As Mad in America points out, it can be looked at both ways. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy online is a great way for mental health patients to be able to have access to their therapy without going out in public. Not only this but this type of online therapy is cheaper for patients as well. These are the two main reasons why many patients don’t get the help they need; they don’t want to go see a doctor face-to-face and they can’t afford it.

For those who suffer from anxiety, this could either be a good thing or a bad thing for them. On one hand, it could be good because many people with anxiety have panic attacks when going out in public and an online therapy could really help them. However, it could also make things worse for them because using online therapy means they are not forced to go out in public and face their fears head-on. Facing their fears head-on could actually help them get past the anxiety and panic attacks from going out in public.
