Champion equestrian competitor Zara, 37, delivered her second child on Monday at Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire, according to Buckingham Palace.

Zara and Mike, who wed in July 2011 after eight years together, already have a four-year-old daughter called Mia.

Mr Tindall, 39, was present at the birth of his second child, the palace said.

Has Zara Tindall had a boy or girl?

Zara gave birth to a baby girl – who is also said to the the heaviest royal baby born in years at 9lb 3oz.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.

“The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

“This baby is the second child for Zara and Mike, the fourth grandchild for The Princess Royal and the seventh great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.”

Older sibling Mia is known for being a fun-loving child, who adores spending time with her equally cheeky cousins, Savannah and Isla Phillips, at equestrian events.

Does newborn have royal title?

Unlike Prince George – the son of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who is heir to the throne – Zara’s new child is far down the line of succession.

At present, she is 19th in line to the throne.

Like her mother, the new baby will not automatically be give a HRH title.

Zara’s father and mother are Captain Mark Phillips and Princess Anne.

But because Captain Phillips did not choose to take an earldom when he married, Zara was not given a title.

The former royal rebel, who famously had a tongue piercing in her younger years, has enjoyed a “slightly more normal” upbringing than other royal relatives.

She said: ”I’ve been very lucky. My parents didn’t give us titles, so we’ve been able to have a slightly more normal upbringing.

“As soon as you’ve got a title, it’s very difficult to shed it.”
