The toddler, who is the Duke of Södermanland, made his royal debut by pulling a green ribbon to open ‘Prince Alexander’s Viewpoint’.

The beauty spot was given to the two-year-old as a gift to mark his baptism by Södermanland County.

After the young prince accomplished his royal task, he enjoyed being given a tour of the local area.

Conservations were on hand to give him information about the unique environment and wild life inhabiting the 8070 Acres of the Nynäs Nature Reserve.

Prince Alexander was accompanied by his mother Princess Sofia, 33, and Prince Carl Philip, 39, who gave a short speech on behalf of his son.

Prince Carl Philip said: “It feels great for us to get here to Södermanland, and that Alexandre’s very first official visit to his Duchy will become just this beautiful place, in Nynä’s nature reserve.

“We are very pleased that you have chosen to make this site more accessible to all, both children and adults.”

Prince Carl Philip, the only son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, also expressed his appreciation that Prince Alexander’s viewpoint could be reached by those with disabilities and motorists.

Prince Alexander is the eighth Duke of Södermanland and was granted the title on 21 April 2016, two days after his birth. He is fifth in line for the Swedish throne.

He is not the only toddler to have been called upon to fulfil his royal obligations.

Alexander’s cousins, six-year-old Princess Estelle, daughter of Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Leonore, four, Princess Madeleine’s daughter, both started their royal duties when they were only two-years-old.

Young members of the British Royal Family also attend engagements at an early age.

Prince George visited the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire when he was just two-years-old.
