The Duchess of Sussex wore a knee-length dark green dress as Prince Harry wore a classic suit. This is the Royal couple’s first official visit to Ireland since they got married on May 19.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will meet the President Michael Higgins and the Taoiseach of Ireland Leo Varadkar.
The pair are due to visit key attractions including Trinity College where they will see the Book of Kells and participate in a Gaelic sports festival at Croke Park.
Meghan and Harry will also visit the Famine Memorial where they will have a moment for reflection before visiting EPIC, which is the Irish Emigration Museum.
The pair will hear the story of the 10million Irish people who have emigrated across the world.
Commenting on the tour, Kensington Palace added: “The Royal couple are looking forward to learning more about Ireland’s history and experiencing its rich culture, as well as meeting the people who are shaping the country’s future.”
The couple are expected to visit DogPatch Labs, which is a start-up hub where they will meet young individuals taking part in free coding lessons.
Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess will meet children and young people taking part in free coding workshops, and will also have the opportunity to talk to female tech entrepreneurs.”
They will also attend a garden party at the residence of the British ambassador.
Meghan and Harry are expected to create a massive boost to the Irish tourism economy as they carry out a busy schedule of engagements.
Paul Kelly, chief executive of Failte Ireland, the national tourism development authority of Ireland, has welcomed the visit of the in-demand couple and stated it could bring a substantial boost to Ireland’s tourism economy.
He said: “We are delighted that Meghan and Harry have chosen Ireland for their first trip abroad as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and that they are visiting some of Dublin’s brilliant visitor attractions.
“Their visit is hugely positive for Dublin and Ireland and we hope millions of people worldwide will get a flavour of Irish culture and history.
“With so much media attention on the trip, all eyes will be on Ireland this week, giving us amazing exposure abroad and highlighting our rich and diverse tourism industry, and excellent visitor experiences, to an international audience.”
He said the extra coverage provided by the Royal visit will help to boost businesses in Ireland.
He added: “As the national development authority, Failte Ireland will continue to work with tourism businesses throughout the country to ensure that they can fully capitalise on the afterglow of the visit.”
Pointing specifically to the Royal couple’s visit to the Irish Emigration museum, he added: “We look forward to sharing with them the story of Irish emigration around the globe.”
