Kate and Prince William’s youngest son, born on April 23, is due to be baptised on July 9 at the Chapel Royal in St James’ Palace – the same place Meghan was secretly baptised in March before her wedding to Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex, 36, chose to be baptised and confirmed into the Church of England in the secret ceremony, which was later announced by Kensington Palace.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who also wed Meghan and Harry, conducted the 45-minute ceremony.

The Archbishop will also oversee Louis’ christening with the fifth-in-line to the throne following in the footsteps of a long line of royals.

And next week, like his older brother Prince George, Prince Louis will be baptised in the same Chapel, which is famously remembered for the wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1840, and is a popular choice for royal christenings.

Before George, the last royal to be christened in the Royal Chapel had been Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter Princess Beatrice, in December 1988.

The event will be the first official outing as a family of five for the Cambridge’s, and Prince Louis’ first public appearance since he was welcomed into the world.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, will conduct the ceremony, and Prince Louis will wear a replica of the famous Honiton lace christening gown – the original was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s first child Princess Victoria.

The ceremony will feature some special water from the River Jordan in the Middle East, which is usually flown to the UK for royal children.

It is likely the special water was used for Meghan’s baptism earlier this year, and some was flown in for Princess Charlotte’s baptism in 2015.

There will be an intimate guest list, with members of both the Royal Family and the Middleton family in attendance.

The Queen is expected to attend her great-grandson’s christening despite recent health worries.

Last week, the Queen pulled out of a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George, as she was feeling “under the weather”, according to Buckingham Palace.
