Prince Louis christening pictures: Kate and William pictured with their close family

Kensington Palace released four official portraits of the royals, showing the Cambridges as a family of five for the first time.

Prince Louis was christened in an intimate ceremony with close friends and family in The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace last Monday.

In one adorable photo, Kate can be seen beaming as she gazes down at her little bundle of joy surrounded in the gardens of Clarence House.

The candid moment beautifully captures a mother’s love for her child, with Louis seen with his eyes open in the shot.

Another shows her similarly besotted with her third child, next to her husband Prince William as well as her two other children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Prince William is clearly the proud father as he places a gentle arm around Kate and his left hand on the shoulder of his eldest son Prince George.

Images, taken from Matt Holyoak for Camera Press, shows a casual side while still a formal portrait.

Prince George, aged four, stand with one hand in his pocket alongside his sister Princess Charlotte who is holding onto Prince Louis’ christening gown in the stunning family picture.

Mr Holyoak said: “I was truly honoured at being asked to take the official photographs at the christening of Prince Louis and to witness at first hand such a happy event.

“Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure.

“I only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs.”

Prince Louis is wearing a christening gown which is a replica of a Royal Family heirloom, made by the Queen’s dressmaker, Angela Kelly.

Princess Charlotte wore the same dress at her christening in 2015 as did Prince George in 2013.

The original Royal Christening Robe, which was created for Queen Victoria’s daughter, was last wore by Lady Louis the current monarch’s great-granddaughter.

In another photo, the young family of five are joined by Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Prince Charles, Camilla and the Middleton family including Kate’s pregnant sister Pippa Matthews and her husband James.

Members of the Royal Family also appeared in another photo without the Middletons.

Prince George steals the show in the sweet snap as the young royal looks ecstatic to be an older brother with a huge grin across his face.

Meanwhile, his adorable three-year-old sister Charlotte looks across at across at the two boys.

The Royal Family photos are the first official pictures Meghan has appeared since her Royal Wedding and show she has well and truly been accepted into the firm.

In the more intimate Royal Family picture without the Middletons, Meghan lovingly links her arm through Prince Harry’s as he stand alongside his father Prince Charles.

The photographs were taken in the morning room and garden at Clarence House.

Noticeably absent from the photos are the Queen and Prince Philip who also did not attend their great-grandson’s christening.

Louis was sound asleep as he was carried into the Chapel Royal by Kate for the christening ceremony which lasted 40 minutes.

After the ceremony, the baby prince looked content and wiggled his fingers as Kate gazed down and beamed at him as she held him in her arms.

With Prince George and Princess Charlotte joining their parents for Louis’s big day, it was the first time the Cambridges were seen together as a family of five.
