For nearly 50 years, from 1953 to 2002, Clarence House was home to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and is still decorated to her taste.
A portrait of George Bernard Shaw by Augustus John can be seen behind Prince Charles and Prince Harry in the Royal Family photo, while a portrait of the Queen hangs behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Kate, who is cradling Prince Louis, and William, who is has Prince George sitting on his lap, are seated on a 1773 Chippendale sofa which is part of a set.
The Morning Room was also used for the official photographs of Prince George’s christening in 2013.
Clarence House was the Queen and Prince Philip’s home when they were first married and Prince Charles was brought up in the stately home.
It also served as the official residence for Prince William from 2003 until his 2011 marriage and for Prince Harry from 2003 until 2012.
It is now the official residence of Charles and his wife Camilla.
Other historic pieces which feature Prince Charls’ Morning Room but did not feature in the christening photos include a painting of King George V and a mid-century vase as well as plenty of pictures of their family.
In 2016, Clarence House shared a picture of the room on their official Twitter account and a photo of Prince George holding a two-week-old Princess Charlotte as well as a photo of Prince Charles and Prince Harry on safari in 1997 were among the personal snaps dotted around the room.
Prince Louis was christened in The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace last Monday and to mark the occasion the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released of a collection of photographs from the special day.
The pictures are the first time the young family has been officially photographed.
In one photo the young family were joined by grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall as well as auntie Meghan Markle and uncle Prince Harry.
In another the members of the Royal Family were pictured with the Middletons include Kate’s pregnant sister Pippa Matthew and her husband James.
