The walk was for “Walking with the Wounded”, a charity established in 2010.

It supports vulnerable veterans to help them reintegrate into society and Prince Harry is patron of the charity.

The latest walk comprised of six veterans, three US and three UK, and it began in LA on June 2.

In honour of their tremendous achievement, the Duke of Sussex made a video to thank them for their success, saying: “Hi guys and congratulations. 1,000 miles is amazing and what an incredible achievement.

“Right now, you couldn’t feel further away from that London hotel when we met a few months ago and you’re probably a lot more exhausted too.

“But think about the journey you’ve been on from that moment in June.

“When we met I could sense that although there was a little nervousness, there was a determination in every single one of you.

“None of you were gonna let a small task like walking 1,000 miles get in your way.”

The walk was designed to create a platform to tell the stories of wounded soldiers and their journey from injury to present day.

It was also specifically designed to provide a platform for people to discuss a wider conversation around mental health.

In the video, released by Kensington Palace, Prince Harry continued: “Kev, Kemsley, Johnny, Frankie, Adele, Larry, every mile that you have covered, every step you’ve taken has been a demonstration of hope and courage – and also the partnership of our two nations.

“We’ve spent lifetimes working together, fighting alongside each other and protecting each other and it is looking at people like you that we can look at new ways of recovering too.

“It may be an overused cliche, but we are genuinely stronger together and you are the proof of that.

“I’ve been following your journey along the way and I am so grateful of everything you guys have done and for the stories that you’ve shared.”

In 2013, Harry took part in a gruelling trek to the South Pole in aid of the Walking With The Wounded charity, joining a team of injured British servicemen and women in the race against groups from the US and the Commonwealth.

In 2015, he joined a group of wounded Afghanistan veterans for part of an epic 1,000-mile journey across Britain. Harry is not expected to take part in the Walk Of America.

The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, 36, will take place on May 19 this year at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in Windsor.
