The adorable four-year-old is pictured sitting on his father, the Duke of Cambridge’s lap and grinning as much as his cheeks would allow him with his mother the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Princess Charlotte, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Kensington Palace released four official photographs this evening taken by celebrity photographer Matt Holyoak.

The images include a shot of Kate alone with Prince Louis in the gardens of Clarence House, as well as a group shot of both sides of Kate and William’s family, including Meghan and James Matthews, Pippa’s husband.

In one picture of just the Cambridge family, the Duke of Cambridge has his hand lovingly placed on Prince George’s shoulder as he looks sweetly at the camera standing besides Princess Charlotte.

In another photo, Prince George is holding his hands together between his legs and he has his hair combed back smartly.

Prince George walked hand hand-in-hand with his father, the Duke of Cambridge into the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace for the ceremony.

The four-year-old wore blue shorts and a white button down shirt with blue trimming by Amaia Kids.

The christening of Prince George took place in the same place as Prince Louis’ in October 2013.

Although the Queen and Prince Philip attended the christening of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, they did not make it to Prince Louis’.

A statement said: “The decision has not been made on health grounds and it is understood to have been mutually agreed by the Queen and the Cambridges some time ago.”

The christening for Prince Louis was held in the afternoon while Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s christenings both took place in the morning.

The private ceremony on Monday was held at Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London, using water from the River Jordan and it was the first time the Cambridges were seen together as a family of five.

Prince Louis appeared to be sleeping in his mother’s arms for the pictures having grown some fine hair since he was born.

Kate was dressed in a creamy Alexander McQueen dress with a v-neck and a Jane Taylor hat.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked completely elated and gazed at Louis who was dressed in a replica of the gown commissioned by Queen Victoria for the christening of her daughter, Victoria, in 1841.

The gown was the same one worn by Prince George and Princess Charlotte at their own ceremonies in 2013 and 2015.

Kate’s parents were also at the ceremony, her brother and sister, James and Pippa and Louis’ six godparents who are close friends or relatives of the Duke and Duchess.

The new fifth in line to the throne was baptised an Anglican with the full name of Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge in a private ceremony in the same chapel where Prince George was christening in October 2013.

The service was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby who wrote on Twitter: “I’m delighted and privileged to be christening Prince Louis today – a precious child made in God’s image, just as we all are. Please join me in praying for him and his family on this special day.”
