The Duchess of Sussex could take the best seats in the house during the two week tennis tournament to cheer on her champion friend during the two-week tournament.

Seven-time winner Serena today takes on Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova, who is playing her first ever Grand Slam second-round match.

Sources told Express.co.uk Meghan, 36, will not be attending today’s Centre Court match, but hinted she could be spotted at the tennis tournament on Friday or Saturday if her friend is victorious and makes it through to the next round.

The insider said: “Meghan will not be at Wimbledon today.

“If she was to attend, we would know two or three days before or on the morning of.”

Meghan’s much-anticipated Wimbledon debut as a duchess comes after she enjoyed a day out with Serena at the annual Audi Polo Challenge last weekend to cheer on Prince Harry and William from the sidelines.

The pair have a close bond, with Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian being treated to top seats during the Royal Wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

When quizzed earlier this week about whether Meghan Markle would be in the stands to show her support, the tennis champion said: “I don’t know. We’ll see. If I keep winning.”

This weekend could be Meghan’s best chance at seeing Serena, with a busy week ahead for the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan, 36, will visit a Youth Challenge Reception in London’s Marlborough on Thursday, before Prince Louis’s christening on Monday, July 9, followed by a two day trip to Ireland on July 10 and 11 with her new husband, Harry.

The royal box is reserved for use by the Royal Family and other distinguished guests who want to watch the tennis during the Wimbledon Championships.

Each day 74 guests can take their place on the Lloyd Loom wicker chairs perched just above Centre Court.

Meghan’s appearance will come two years after she was photographed courtside cheering on her tennis star friend during the summer she started dating husband Prince Harry.

In 2016 Meghan was spotted watching Serena, sitting just yards from Pippa Middleton – the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister.

Speaking of Meghan’s spectacular wedding, Serena told InStyle: “It was super fun. You know, I’ve known Meghan for years so it was good to see my friend happy.”

Serena Williams made her return to the grass courts of SW19 on Monday after taking a year out after giving birth to her first daughter, Alexis Olympia, who is now 10-months-old.

Wimbledon organisers handed the 36-year-old a No 25 seeding despite her ranking of 181 in the world.
