Meghan and Harry have been busy back at work this week, stepping out on more than one occasion.

On Tuesday, they were out at the prestigious WellChild awards, of which Harry is a patron, honouring young people suffering from debilitating medical conditions and the professionals who treat them.

And on Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out as guests at 100 Days to Peace, a gala music evening marking the centenary of the end of World War One.

But it was at the WellChild awards, a charity close to the couple’s heart, that they revealed their pet hate about living their charmed lives.

At the event, the couple spent time chatting to the inspiring young people, with photographs from the evening showing them smiling and bonding with the children.

But when they met camera-shy four-year-old Mckenzie Brackley, they told him they didn’t like the camera either and turned away for some privacy.

Mckenzie’s mum said: “They were so lovely.

”They knew he was scared of the cameras and they said they didn’t like the cameras either so they turned around.”

She added: “They said he was amazing and to keep going the way he is going and told him to look after me.

“He’s never going to forget this, even though he’s only four.”

Mckenzie was there to collect the Inspirational Child Award for his battle with Acute Flaccid Paralysis.

There were plenty of sweet moments throughout the evening, between the loved-up couple themselves, as well as with the honoured guests.

Prince Harry said in his speech: “I have been a patron of the organisation for 11 years now, and this year I am especially grateful to be able to share the scope and magnitude of this work with my wife.”

He praised the community present, saying: “Every one of you is truly amazing. You have shown all of us what it means to be a champion – whether for yourself, your family, your community, or someone in need.”

Sharon Booth, who was at the awards with her young daughter, Matilda, said of Meghan: “She just seems so gentle and sincere.

“They were just like normal people.”

Matilda, who made the first presentation of the evening, gave Meghan a bouquet of white flowers.

In response, the Duchess picked a rose from the bunch and handed it back to the seven-year-old.

Her mum said: “Matilda chose the flowers, she was shell-shocked to be given the rose, she said she’s going to put it in her memory box.”

She said Meghan urged her daughter, who has spina bifida and is paralysed from the chest down, to “never stop smiling as you’ve got a beautiful smile.”
