The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are clearly besotted with each other following their marriage at Windsor Castle on May 19.

The pair were captured gazing at one another lovingly as they stepped out at a summer party at the British Ambassador’s house on Tuesday evening as they kicked off their Ireland tour.

Although their schedule was packed so Prince Harry could make it home in time for the England match on Wednesday evening, the couple found time to share a private, intimate lunch date together at one of the city’s most popular restaurants, Delahunt, on Wednesday.

Meghan and Harry enjoyed a two-course lunch and washed it down with a half pint of Guinness and some Irish coffee – which they shared between them.

Restaurant manager Grace Davis said: “The booking was made some time ago, and they had pre-ordered their meals.

“They had the smoked salmon starter. Meghan had the hake for her main course; Harry had the lamb. They had planned to have dessert too, but said they were too full by the end of their meal.

“So, they just had what we call our 3fe Dublin roasted coffee. They seemed to love it – it was empty plates all around. They even shared a half-pint of Guinness, and Harry had a Coke.”

Prince Harry had said the tour was “strictly business” with their itinerary including visits to Trinity College and Croke Park.

Their closeness sparked rumours the couple were treating the visit as a “mini-moon” – as royal schedules prevented them from going on a honeymoon immediately after their wedding.

The couple were accompanied on their mini tour by staff from Kensington Palace staff and the British Ambassador to Ireland Robin Barnett. But they ate alone at the restaurant in a leather-clad booth by the kitchen.

They then followed their private moment with a visit to both the Famine Memorial and The Irish Emigration Museum.

Manager Grace told of how personable the popular royal couple were chatting over their meal and even gave their compliments to the chef in person.

She said: “They were very warm and friendly and very happy together. This was their only downtime on the tour and they were chatting the whole time over lunch.

“They were also very engaging, and both of them popped into the kitchen to see our chef, Dermot Staunton. Harry told him, ‘I hear it’s the best food in Ireland,’ and Dermot told him it was, but that he is biased.”
