The Together cookbook will raise money for a kitchen feeding survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy in west London.

“Hi, I’m Meg’s mom,” she told women at the Hubb Community Kitchen.

She said she was so proud of Meghan for suggesting the cookbook idea.

Meghan, 37, wearing a £956 Smythe coat, Tuxe top and skirt by her friend Misha Nonoo, greeted her friends from the kitchen with three kisses each.

She helped to make chapatis and grill koftas as she launched the cookbook in Perk’s Field, outside Kensington Palace.

In an unscripted speech, her first as a royal, the former Suits actress heaped praise on the women – and her adopted new home city.

She said: “I felt so immediately embraced by the women in the kitchen, your warmth and your kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multicultural it was.”

She added: “On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity. There are 12 countries represented in this one group of women, which is pretty outstanding.”

Los Angeles based Doria, 62, hugged each woman and said: “It’s amazing. I’m just as excited as you are.”

A Grenfell survivor at the launch said she was now finding help through counselling after Harry had encouraged her to talk about what happened and rid herself of her misplaced feeling of guilt for surviving the inferno that killed 72 last June.
