The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew of York and sixth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Princess Eugenie has plans to throw a wedding every bit as lavish as cousin Harry’s.
Eugenie has been with partner Jack for seven years, with Buckingham Palace announcing their engagement in January this year.
The wedding will take place on October 12, in the same venue that Meghan and Harry became husband and wife.
St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle is a picturesque venue and has plenty of room in the grounds for the 1,200 members of the public chosen to attend via a ballot.
However, the Chapel itself may be a squeeze for the 850 guests – more than it can seat.
St George’s Chapel also offers the chance for the newlyweds to embark on a procession similar to Meghan and Harry’s through some of the town of Windsor.
Eugenie has made her wedding into a lengthy affair, with celebrations taking place over two days, October 12th and 13th.
On the 12th, she will wed Jack in a ceremony which will begin at 11am.
This will be followed by a procession from the Royal Mews out of Windsor Castle and on to part of the High Street.
This will give members of the public the chance to see the couple from Castle Hill, the High Street and Park Street.
Unlike Harry and Meghan’s procession, the carriage will not travel along the Long Walk.
The Queen will then host a reception and lunch for guests, who will move to the Royal Lodge in Windsor that evening for a black-tie evening do.
The Royal Lodge is owned by Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, despite their divorce in 1996.
On the second day, a rather unusual element not usually seen at a wedding will take place.
With guests invited back to the Royal Lodge, Eugenie and Jack will celebrate their nuptials with a much more relaxed “festival vibe” complete with cocktails, afternoon tea and fairground attractions.
A royal source told The Daily Telegraph: “After the more formal celebration at Windsor Castle, the Saturday bash will be a relaxed party.
“There will be dodgems and funfair rides, coconut shies, lots of food stalls, loads of cocktails, Bloody Marys for the hangovers and a festival vibe.”
The pair has hired A-list entertainment planners Bentley’s Entertainment to organise their second day of unique fun.
Royal and celebrity guests alike can throw a coconut at a coconut shy, take a whirl on the dodgems and enjoy a cocktail for good measure.
Time will tell who the celebrities will be that travel to Windsor for Eugenie’s big day, but given her friendships with Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller and Ed Sheeran the day is sure to be a star-studded one.
