Meghan will feature in the October issue of Tatler magazine’s, along with a list of all its former winners from 1960 onwards.
The high-society fashion magazine awards the title every year to to ladies who are “variously toffs, mischief-makers and social media mavens”, with previous cover stars including Cara Delevingne, Harry’s ex Cressida Bonas and October’s cover star Lady Ameila Windsor.
Meghan is different compared to previous winners, with Tatler noting how the Duchess embodies “none” of their characteristics but is still “nonetheless worthy of the accolade”.
Rebecca Cope from Tatler said: “Meghan Markle, newly the Duchess of Sussex, has been the most talked about woman worldwide for the last nine months, ever since her engagement to our most eligible bachelor Prince Harry was announced.
“A departure from some of the Girls who come earlier on the list – who are variously toffs, mischief-makers and social media mavens, and included the likes of Cara Delevingne, Lady Mary Charteris and Pippa Middleton – Meghan Markle is none of the above, although she is nonetheless worthy of the accolade.
“As David Jenkins writes in the issue, she also has ‘that indefinable, unmissable quality that makes [her] the one for whom heads turn, over whom hearts are broken and for whom everything is forgiven, and with whom, everyone – but everyone – is desperate to be, right here, right now, and forever.”
This is not Meghan’s first debut in Tatler, as the royal was previously featured on the magazine’s best dressed list in August.
Meghan is known for her sophisticated and elegant style, and was recently spotted wearing a stunning black tuxedo dress as she and husband Prince Harry attended hit musical, Hamilton, at London’s Victoria Palace theatre on Wednesday.
The Duchess dazzled in a £372 Judith and Charles tuxedo dress, finishing off her look with a pair of matching heels as she and Harry chatted with show creator, Lin Manuel-Miranda, his wife, and other guests before the play started.
Several other royals were also featured on Tatler’s fashionista list, including Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and her son, Prince George.
Tatler’s August issue said: “Prince Harry’s Californian bride blew us away with her Givenchy wedding dress and has redefined modern royal style with every subsequent appearance.”
Singer Dua Lipa and Harry Styles, former One Direction member, also made the most fashionable list.
The pair are known for their unconventional fashion sense, with Harry’s style often compared to the likes of Mick Jagger.
Royal fans can pick up their copy of Tatler’s October issue at newsstands across the UK on Monday, September 3.
