In the archive recording, broadcasted on Thames Television, interviewers Andrew Gardner and Ms Rippon asked the royal couple questions about their marriage, and how they were looking forward to spending the rest of their lives as husband and wife.

Speaking about adjusting to royal life, Ms Rippon asked Diana: “I suppose it’s one of the most important things you’re going to have to adjust to really, isn’t it?”

Diana, with her head resting gently on her hand, responded: “Of course, yes.”

Ms Rippon then asked: “And Prince Charles has been a great help to you?”

With a smile, Diana replied: “Marvellous, a tower of strength.”

Charles then slams his hands on the handles of his chair, and jokingly said: “Oh gracious. Encouraging.”

The interviewers, Ms Rippon and Mr Gardner, begin to laugh along with Diana and Charles in what seems to be a comeback of cheeky jokes between the couple.

Diana replied: “I have to say that because you’re sitting there!”

Charles, twiddling his fingers, rolled his eyes at Diana as he chuckled a nervous laugh.

The prince even revealed planning his wedding was a “nightmare”, speaking about how he had to adjust his guest list to fit as “many people” in as he could.

Ms Roppin asked the royal couple: “Have you been able to put in any small personal touches that will still make it very much your day?”

Charles said: “From my point of view, to have as many people I’ve known in the navy and in university and the air force, and everyone I’ve been involved with for the last 20 years literally, in school.

“All the marvellous people who looked after me at these different places and to try and remember everybody has been an absolute nightmare, hasn’t it?

“Even now, I suddenly remember somebody that I tried hard to remember but I didn’t and I hope we got most people.”

Diana and Charles married on July 29, 1981 at St Paul’s Cathedral, in what seemed like a fairytale wedding.

Their wedding was watched by almost 750 million people all over the world.

A few days later, the royal couple went on a yacht trip to Gibraltar for their honeymoon, when Diana suspected Charles was cheating on her with Camilla.

Speaking in a series of secret interviews, revealed by National Geographic, the Princess of Wales said she always felt there were “three” people in her marriage.

On the day of their honeymoon, she noticed Charles wearing a pair of cufflinks with two letter ‘C’s entwined on them.

She soon realised they were a gift from Camilla, Charles’ ex-girlfriend, and Diana confronted him, but he denied they were having an affair.

Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997 in a car crash in Paris.
