Meghan Markle is reportedly not speaking to her father Thomas Markle after he hung up on Prince Harry following a heated row over staged paparazzi pictures.
Mr Markle claims the 33-year-old prince had called him to find out if he had co-operated with staged pictures of him getting fitted for a wedding suit.
However the former lightning director claimed he slammed the phone down on his son-in-law because he was so “rude.”
He said as he was recovering from heart surgery, it was not the time to be questioning him.
“I felt disrespected by them. I was recovering from a heart attack, lying in a bed, having a phone call, and the things were being said that hurt me,” he told The Sun on Sunday.
While it is unclear how Meghan and Prince Harry will officially deal with Mr Markle following these outbursts to the media.
Insiders have claimed Kensington Palace are planning an “aggressive strategy” in response to Mr Markle and the ongoing embarrassment caused by half-sister Samantha Markle.
A royal source told Entertainment Tonight: “The palace, which normally takes a firm policy of not commenting on personal matters, is not considering a more aggressive strategy to deal with the situation with both her father and her sister.
“No one wants to see this continue.”
Although the details of this strategy have not been revealed by the source, the Palace are reportedly most concerned about Mr Markle, as Meghan has “never had a real relationship” with her half-sister.
Meghan has reportedly not spoken to her father he put the phone down to Prince Harry, with Mr Markle saying “I don’t expect to see her or hear back from her and that’s ok.”
He expects to be “locked out for ever” by the British royals.
Mr Markle said: “I felt like I was being blamed for my mistakes when I was in my hospital bed recovering from a heart attack.
“I’ve had no way of contacting her. The phone number I called doesn’t work any more. The liaison with the royal family never answers back and there’s no address I can write to.”
Father and daughter have not spoken to each other in almost three months and the 74-year-old said he was being shunned by his daughter following her wedding to Harry.
The royal source revealed the estrangement between Meghan and Mr Markle has been bothering the duchess for a long time.
“She has gone through periods of difficulty with her father in the past, but she does love him,” the source added.
However courtiers will only reach out to Mr Markle when Meghan signals she is ready to speak to him.
Another source added: “This will be on her terms. She is the one in control.”
