The 92-year-old monarch arrived at the Berkshire racecourse by horse and carriage with her son the Duke of York.
She took a moment to look at the ground as her the pale blue feather on her grey hat fluttered in the wind.
The monarch smiled as she inspected the racecourse that was founded by Queen Anne in 1711.
As a military band played God Save the Queen the crowds cheered for the Queen.
She gave the crowd an adoring wave as the excited atendees gave three loud cheers.
Yesterday the Queen arrived wearing a serene green Angela Kelly-designed outfit with the Earl of Snowdon.
The Queen has attended every Royal Ascot since she ascended the throne in 1962.
She spoke fondly of the event in the foreword for this year’s programme, saying: “My family and I greatly look forward to Royal Ascot.
“Tradition and innovation sit comfortably together over five days of racing.”
This week of races has become Britain’s most popular race meeting with more than 300,000 attendees dressed in their best clothes and hats.
The Ascot Racecourse was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and the race meeting became a Royal week in 1911.
Ascot attracts the best jockeys and trainers in racing and fans of the sport from all walks of life who enjoy the fashion.
In 2013 the Queen became the first reigning monarch to own a thoroughbred, Estimate, which won the prestigious Gold Cup.
