Cyprus 'rape lie' teenager pleads Boris to bring her home, Report

A British teenager found guilty of lying about being gang raped in Cyprus has pleaded with Boris Johnson to help secure her to return to the UK.

The 19-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, called on the PM and Foriegn Secretary Dominic Raab on Friday to help bring her back to the UK as she awaits sentencing on 7 January. She faces up to a year in jail and a €1,700 (£1,500) fine.

The teenager told police in July last year that she had been raped by up to 12 Israeli tourists in a hotel room in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. She has since since alleged that Cypriot police forced her to sign a retraction, which resulted her being accused of lying about the incident and convicted of public mischief at Famagusta district court in Paralimni.

“Every second of this ordeal has been a waking nightmare,” she told The Sun newspaper. “I’m 19 and all I want to do is clear my name and come home to my family. I would say to both the Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister, both of whom are fathers, please support me with your actions not just words. Time is running out for me. Please, please help.”
