HURRICANE Dorian could trigger a heatwave in Britain this week – after the UK is first blasted with a 2,000-mile wide polar chill from Iceland.
The massive storm – which hammered the Bahamas this week – is continuing to hurtle towards the US after already claiming the lives of at least five people.
It is set to move its way up the east coast of the US before heading back across the Atlantic Ocean towards the UK.
Forecasters have said that the tail-end of the storm is set to pass above the UK next week, which could bring hot weather to the area.
It is set to help warm air sweep up from the continent, creating the potential for a heatwave.
The Met Office said the storm is set to allow “high pressure build for the UK” which could bring “a spell of warmer weather”.
More unsettled conditions are likely in Wales before then.
A Met Office spokesman said windy and rainy conditions are set to hit the region for the rest of the week.
A spokesman said: “Sunny spells and isolated showers at first [on Wednesday], but strengthening winds will spread increasing cloud and showery rain across all parts in the afternoon, with possible gales developing in the northwest.
“Bright and breezy on Thursday with scattered showers.
“Cloudy and windy on Friday with rain in places, clearing southeastwards later.
