Meghan beamed as jockey Frankie Dettori, who won the race with horse Without Parole, proudly held up his trophy.

Other pictures from Ascot’s first day show Meghan with her arm looped through Harry’s and the pair holding hands after they arrived by carriage to the spectacular event.

The Duke of Sussex also appeared to be showing his wife the ropes as he showed her the programme and was later photographed explaining how the presentation process works.

Meghan looked stunning in a stylish monochrome outfit by her favourite designer, Givenchy, teamed with a Philip Treacy hat, while Harry was dressed in black morning suit with a sky blue waistcoat and top hat.

Thousands of racegoers cheered and applauded from the stands as the Queen’s carriage led the procession to mark the start of Ascot at 2 pm today.

The beaming Duchess and her new husband were next with the Earl and Countess of Wessex, who waved as they travelled past the packed stands on their way to the royal box.

Meghan and Harry received a rapturous welcome from Royal Ascot as the Duchess enjoyed the sights and sounds of the quintessential English summer event – a day at the races.

Also in attendance today was Princess Anne, who today became a grandmother for the fourth time, and Prince Andrew who rode in the carriage with their mother, the Queen.

Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie in another carriage.

The Queen’s decision to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shows Meghan has well and truly been welcomed into the Firm.

And it comes just days after Meghan was pictured getting on famously with her new grandmother-in-law during a full day of public engagements in Cheshire.
