Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg, 26, was one of the soldiers attending the traditional ceremony as flag-bearer of the 1st Batallion Irish Guards on July 19.

The special moment was immortalised in a snap shared on the family’s official Instagram page.

Sébastien’s parents, the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, are depicted standing proudly near their son after the ceremony.

The snap’s caption reads: “Prince Sebastien participated in the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace as flag-bearer of the 1st Batallion Irish Guards.

“His parents, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess, attended the ceremony.”

In another picture portraying the trio and an adorable black dog, the regiment’s mascot, the prince is seen holding the regiment’s trademark bearskin cap, which is 18 inches tall and weighs 1.5 pounds.

The couple headed to London as guests of the Queen to witness their fifth and youngest child leading his squad.

Sébastien is currently the Troop Commander of the battalion, stationed at Hounslows Barracks in London.

The prince has lived a fair share of his years in England.

He spent part of his schooling at Ampleforth College and later attended an officer training course at Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, from which he graduated in August 2017.

The same prestigious military academy has been attended by members of the British Royal Family, including Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince Michael of Kent.

Sandhurst often sees royals from all over the world enrolling in its course, including Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, King Abdullah II of Jordan and his son Crown Prince Hussein.

A month after the end of that course, Sébastien swore an oath as an officer of the Luxembourg Army, a small volunteer force of just under 500 troops created in 1967.

The prince is currently on secondment, a temporary transfer, with the Irish Guards.

The Irish Guards are the youngest of the five guards Regiments within the Brigade of Guards.

The regiment was created by Queen Victoria in April 1900.
