The LA trip could provide an opportunity for the Duchess, 37, to heal the rift between her and her 74-year-old father after months of not talking.

A royal source told the Daily Mirror: “The past few weeks will no doubt have been incredibly stressful for Meghan and no one wants this saga to continue for her.

“Hopefully she can find some way of seeking a resolution with her father but going back to her roots for a few days is exactly what she needs right now.

“Time will tell what the process for any type of relationship may be but as long as they keep hurting her, it becomes more and more unlikely they will be able to have any type of relationship.”

But Meghan’s former Hollywood lighting director father has given no clues about a potential meet up with his daughter during her solo trip to visit her mum.

The Royal Family has been embroiled in a spat with Mr Markle and other members of Meghan’s family, who have made a number of claims to the media.

Royal sources warned that Mr Markle could put any chance of reconciling with his daughter in jeopardy if he continued with his public outcries, which have targeted both Meghan and her new family.

Over the weekend, Mr Markle compared the Royal Family to a cult.

The outspoken American said: “They are either like Scientologists or the Stepford family.

“If they hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up!”

And Mr Markle’s latest string of outbursts came after he “reached his limit” and lashed out at his daughter saying: “You’d be nothing without me.”

Yet despite the public rants that have reportedly left Meghan deeply embarrassed, Mr Markle does want to reconcile with his daughter.

He has said: “I love my daughter. I love Prince Harry. I wish them nothing but the best.”

Mr Markle and his daughter have reportedly not spoken since Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry on May 19, following a row over a series of staged paparazzi photos.

Since the scandal was exposed, Mr Markle said: “I made a terrible mistake which I have paid for since.”

A source close to Prince Charles said yesterday: “The prince will be very sympathetic towards Meghan and the difficult situation she is in.

“But I suspect the Queen will be rolling her eyes and thinking, ‘Crikey, what is going to become of all of this?’”

Prince Harry is not expected to travel to the US with his wife.

But it emerged yesterday the couple may attend a charity polo match in LA or Santa Barbara, California, as part of an American tour next spring.

The Royal couple is now looking forward to their international tour of Fiji, Australia, Tonga and New Zealand in October.

A source said: “Meghan and Harry have so much to look forward to it’s important they continue to enjoy life as a newly married couple and don’t let all the controversy get to them.

“They are rising above it and have the support of the entire family whatever happens.”
