Mr Burrell said that a young Prince Harry was very excited to receive the outrageous gift from his doting mother.
He revealed Princess Diana loved Christmas and was always looking for inventive ways to make it even more fun.
Mr Burrell told the Daily Mirror: “She’d spend hours looking for jokey things for their stockings. One year, Harry got fake dog poo.”
Mr Burrell worked as a footman to the Queen before he became the Queen’s butler.
Speaking about Princes Diana in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Prince William said: “She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and fun.
“She understood that there was a real life outside of Palace walls.”
During the documentary, the Duke of Cambridge also said: “He was our mum. She still is our mum. And of course, as a son I would say this, she was the best mum in the world.
“She smothered us with love, that’s for sure.”
William and Harry were just 15 and 12 when Princess Diana died at the age of 36 following a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Prince William revealed that his wife the Duchess of Cambridge also has a “naughty side” during his engagement interview in 2010.
The Duke of Cambridge said: “She’s got a really naughty sense of humour which really helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh, and then things happened”.
