The ‘Queen of the World’ documentary was filmed in April this year and will be aired on ITV next week.

The documentary focusses mainly on the Commonwealth, of which the Queen is head of, and the meeting of the heads of government from the 53 nations, called CHOGM.

This was at the time when the Duchess of Cambridge was on maternity leave and Kate was not taking part in functions.

Kate gave birth to her third child with Prince William, baby Prince Louis, on April 23.

An insider said: “Kate was largely out of action during the main filming.

“CHOGM was a focal point and she was due to give birth any minute then.”

But Kate fans should not be too disappointed as the Duchess of Cambridge does feature in the documentary.

The insider added: “There is film of events and receptions which she attended, so you do see her.”

But Kate does not speak directly to the camera or in conversation, unlike Meghan, Harry and William.

Meghan is in the documentary viewing her wedding dress for the first time.

She beams with a smile and then touches the veil, which features hand-embroidered flowered from each of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

Meghan said: “53 countries, oh my goodness.”

On close inspection, it appears the Duchess is wearing the blue Roland Mouret dress she wore on the eve of her marriage – the same garment she inspired Jennifer Garner to wear when the actress accepted her star on the Hollywood walk of fame last month.

Meghan was spotted in the distinctive, off-the-shoulder dress when she arrived at Cliveden House with her mother, Doria Ragland, the night before she became Prince Harry’s wife.

Meghan’s husband, the Duke of Sussex, chipped in during the trailer with insightful comments about his grandmother.

Revealing the intimate realities of having a Queen for a grandmother, he said: “If you suddenly bump into her in the corridor, don’t panic, and then you will, we all do.”
