The Duchess of Cornwall is said to be planning a “very special” evening for her husband, who turns 70 on November 14.

However, it appears Meghan and Harry will have to give the bash a miss because of a calendar clash.

It is unclear who is invited to the evening but it is understood the royal couple will be travelling from Fiji to Tonga when the event is set to take place on October 25.

Kensington Palace earlier confirmed Meghan and Harry would embark on a 15 day royal tour coinciding with the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney which will see them visit nine cities across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

Prince Harry is the patron and founder of the Invictus Games, a Paralympics-style sporting event for wounded service personnel, which this year will kick-off in Sydney on October 20.

The couple’s tour will conclude on October 31 – six days after the Duchess of Cornwall’s reported event.

According to Vanity Fair, Camilla has been planning a “very special night” for October 25.

Royal sources say this calendar clash was known about well in advance and is said to be part of the reason why Meghan and Harry made an effort to be at a party for Charles in May.

A source told the magazine: “It’s going to be a very special night and Charles is very much looking forward to it.

“Harry and Meghan can’t be there because they will be overseas. It’s why they were so keen to be at the garden party for Charles back in May.”

In May, Harry and Meghan delayed their honeymoon so they could pay tribute to the Duke of Wales at a garden party in Charles’s honour just days after their wedding.

Prince Harry gave a loving speech where he praised his father’s philanthropic work

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said the Camilla’s event will be a night of “music, opera, ballet and Shakespearean drama”.

It is reportedly being produced by David Whelton OBE and directed by Greg Doran, artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, with the Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Royal Opera House.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undoubtedly be disappointed to miss the event, they can take solace in the fact they will be back in England for Prince Charles’s actual birthday on November 14.

The Queen will host a party for the big day in the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace and Charles will also be guest of honour at a televised magic-themed gala show at the London Palladium.
