Tom Cruise has unleashed a furious, foul-mouthed rant on the set of Mission Impossible 7 after crew members breached COVID-19 social distancing rules.
In an audio recording leaked to The Sun, the Hollywood A-lister can be heard angrily threatening staff who stood too close together, telling them they would be sacked if caught doing it again.
The 58-year-old actor, who has been strict about enforcing safety guidelines while filming the upcoming instalment of the franchise — which has already been delayed for months — scolded the crew for not taking the situation seriously.
It is understood all crew members have been wearing masks, but Cruise flew into a rage when he spotted two staff standing less than a metre away from each other as they looked at a computer screen.
Cruise stressed the dire position of the film industry thanks to the global pandemic and reminded the crew how fortunate they were to have jobs.
“We are creating thousands of jobs you motherf***ers!” he yelled.
“I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it you’re fired, if I see you do it again you’re f***ing gone. And if anyone in this crew does it — that’s it, and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again.”
Cruise said he wanted the film set to be “gold standard” and the future of the industry relied on them being able to work safely.
“If we shut down it’s going to cost people f***ing jobs, their home, their family. That’s what’s happening.
“All the way down the line. And I care about you guys, but if you’re not going to help me you’re gone. OK? Do you see that stick? How many metres is that?
“When people are standing around a f***ing computer and hanging out around here, what are you doing?”
Mission Impossible 7 suffered more delays in October while filming in Italy when 12 people on set tested positive to the coronavirus and production started up again two weeks ago in the UK.
