Professional golfer Tiger Woods is expected to plead guilty to a charge of reckless driving on Friday.
Woods was arrested in May after police found him asleep at the wheel of his car alongside a road in Florida. He was suspected of driving under the influence, police said.
His guilty plea would allow him to take part in a 12-month probation program that involves community service, DUI school, drug testing, and possible treatment. In order to avoid a DUI conviction, Woods will have to successfully complete the program.
Woods took “full responsibility” for his actions, the athlete said in a statement shortly after his arrest.
“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” he said. “What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”
This is not the first public scandal for the golf star. Below is a look at some of Woods’ major professional achievements and personal struggles.
