Queen guitarist Brian May has been hospitalised after “ripping his Gluteus Maximus” to shreds while gardening.
The rock and roll guitarist took to Instagram to share a selfie in his hospital gown and making sure to let fans know that his hospital visit was nothing coronavirus-related.
‘The Virus didn’t get me yet – thank God,’ began May. ‘I managed to rip my Gluteus Maximus to shreds in a moment of over-enthusiastic gardening.’
‘So suddenly I find myself in a hospital getting scanned to find out exactly how much I’ve actually damaged myself.’
Brian didn’t explain what exactly it was that put him in hospital, but whatever it was, he ‘did a thorough job – this is a couple of days ago – and I won’t be able to walk for a while … or sleep, without a lot of assistance, because the pain is relentless.’
‘So, folks… I need to go dark for a while, getting some complete rest, at home. Please, please don’t send me sympathy – I just need some healing silence for a while. I’ll be back – but I need the complete break.’
May recently spoke out about COVID-19, revealing he believes the virus was caused by too many people eating meat.
‘This pandemic seemed to come from people eating animals and it’s becoming more well known that eating animals is not the greatest thing for our health,’ the guitarist told NME last month.
‘I think it’s time to re-examine our world in a way that doesn’t abuse other species.’
