Kid Rock has fired his well-known publicist amid sexual harassment allegations made against the PR guru.
Reports of sexual misconduct have been swirling around Nashville-based Kirt Webster since Wednesday, and clients like Randy Travis and Billy Ray Cyrus have already exited his firm, Webster Public Relations. And now Kid Rock has parted ways with the public relations expert.
In a statement issued to Lefsetz Letter, he writes: “The shocking accusations of sexual assault and mistreatment of others I take dead seriously. I never witnessed or heard about any of this outside that he was probably gay, which I could care less about.
“I hope to god this s— he is being accused of is not true as he has been nothing but a good friend to me. But if it comes to light that it is, I will be the first to cut the head off the snake. Unfortunately, I believe sexual harassment is like cancer. We all know someone affected by it and it has to stop.”
The Nashville Scene first reported the allegations against Webster, whose clients have included Dolly Parton and Hank Williams Jr. In a Facebook post, singer Austin Rick claimed the publicist had drugged and raped him. The allegation sparked a series of claims from the Webster’s former employees.
The publicist has denied the claims.
