Emergency services are at the scene of a light aircraft crash near Heathfield, East Sussex.
The aircraft reportedly crashed on open ground just after 11am this morning.
Firefighters from multiple stations were called out just minutes later and extinguished a fire.
Police remain at the scene, with a police cordon in place.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The pilot of a light aircraft sadly died when his plane crashed near Heathfield.
“Emergency services were called to the scene off Herrings Lane at 11.01am where the aircraft had caught fire after crashing.”
