It’s been a whirlwind year for Megan Fox, who has not only split from her partner of 15 years, Brian Austin Green, but she’s met and moved on with a new partner, Machine Gun Kelly, who she dubs her ‘twin flame.’
After six months of dating Kelly, Fox has now officially filed for divorce from Austin Green after 10 years of marriage. TMZ reports that the actress is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s children and wants the ability to forestall spousal support for both halves of the couple.
Austin Green and Fox began dating in 2004 and split in 2006 before reconciling and getting married in 2010. They filed for divorce in 2015, but worked things out ahead of their third son’s birth in 2016.
When news of their split was initially reported on, Austin Green confirmed the reports on an episode of his podcast. “She said, ‘I realised when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me,’” he recalled Fox telling him. “I was shocked and I was upset about it, but I can’t be upset at her because she didn’t ask to feel that way. It wasn’t a choice she made, that’s the way she honestly felt.”
He also addressed the photos of Fox and Kelly out together, saying, “I’ve never met him, but Megan and I have talked about him,” he said. “They’re friends at this point, and from what she’s expressed, he’s a really nice, genuine guy, and I trust her judgment.”
He continued, “I will always love her, and I know she will always love me, and I know as far as a family, what we built is really cool and really special,” Brian explained, later adding, “I really don’t want Megan and I to be at odds. She’s been my best friend for 15 years, and I don’t want to lose that.”
After six months of publicly dating, Kelly and Fox have not only made their red carpet and Instagram debuts, but they’ve even gotten tattoos for one another: Fox got the words “el pistolero,” which is Spanish for “the gunman, in thin font on her left collarbone, while Kelly got Fox’s initials.
With all of this going on, Austin Green, who was initially only saying good things about his ex, has been getting increasingly publicly pissed. Of late, the pair has been snapping at each other over their three children – 8-year-old Noah Shannon, 6-year-old Bodhi Ransom and 4-year-old Journey River – on social media. On Halloween weekend, Fox said Austin Green was “feeding the pervasive narrative that [she’s] an absent mother, and [Austin Green is] the perennial, eternally dedicated dad of the year.”
Meanwhile, Kelly is having a great time. He’s said he “didn’t know what [true love] was” until he made eye contact with Fox, telling Howard Stern, “That was my first experience with being open to love and stuff like that. I definitely wasn’t set up to believe that that’s something that could ever exist.”
Fox, for her part, has said that she felt an astrological connection between herself and Kelly. “I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame,” she said on an episode of the podcast Give Them Lala … With Randall. “Instead of a soul mate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time. So we’re actually two halves of the same soul, I think. And I said that to him almost immediately, because I felt it right away.”
