A new version of everyone’s favourite four-fingered treat will soon be available in the UK.
Nestlé will be rolling out Green Tea Matcha KitKats, which have been available in Japan since 2004, across Europe later this month.
KitKat Green Tea Matcha will be available following requests from chocolate lovers, and is inspired by one of the most popular of the 350+ KitKat varieties that have been available in Japan.
Matcha is a traditional drink made from powdered green tea that has been enjoyed for centuries in Japan, often consumed as part of an elaborate tea ceremony.
The KitKat Green Tea Matcha is made of smooth white chocolate to give a sweet and fragrant flavour. Can anyone else not wait to try this?
Alexander von Maillot, Global Head of Confectionery at Nestlé said: “From its origins in the United Kingdom in 1935, KitKat has grown in popularity across the globe.
“Nestlé in Japan has taken KitKat to the next level in the last two decades, with innovative flavor combinations and inspiring special editions. We are excited to bring one of the most iconic Japanese KitKats back home to Europe this year.”
He added: “The launches of KitKat Ruby and KitKat Green Tea Matcha are further proof of our commitment to our leading international confectionery brand. We have introduced other innovative flavors and premium products to KitKat, KitKat Chunky and KitKat Senses in recent years, and there is more to come!”
It seems chocoholics far and wide cannot wait to get their hands on this treat, one said: “Thank god I don’t have to pay £14 for an imported pack in future”, now there’s a huge fan if we’ve ever seen one.
Another added: “About time, these are lovely!” A third commented: “At last! Green Tea KitKat’s will soon be available in the UK. My expanding waistline is not so happy though. #KitKat #matcha”.
Others aren’t as enthusiastic, with one posting: “The KitKat Matcha Green Tea is no longer relevant man I think by now everyone already had it. I want the caramel pudding ones. Or the ones you can put in the oven pls thank you.”
Naturally, some are starting to panic about the impending Brexit. One person asked: “Will the UK get it after Brexit though?”
And Nestlé responded saying: “there here to stay for a good while yet”. Think that was supposed to be ‘they’re’ but we’re willing to forgive… for a bulk delivery of Green Tea Matcha KitKats we are anyway.
