A homeless subway singer who became an internet sensation after a video of her singing opera went viral has given her first public performance.

Fifty-two-year-old Emily Zamourka’s performance and story went viral after a police officer posted video he shot of her on Twitter on September 27.

Zamourka made a living playing violin on the street until her instrument was stolen three years ago. With her source of income gone, she couldn’t pay her rent and was evicted.

On Saturday, Zamourka’s supporters invited her to sing at a local event.

She sang “Oh My Beloved Father” from the Puccini opera “Gianni Schicchi,” the same aria she was seen singing in the video.

After her performance, Zamourka thanked her supporters.
