Rumors surrounding super model Gigi Hadid and singer Zayn Malik began swirling earlier this week, with TMZ reporting the couple was expecting a baby together. Both Hadid and Malik remained silent about the topic — until Thursday night. Hadid appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and confirmed that she is expecting.
The supermodel confirms she’s pregnant with her first child on the “Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” during a preview clip from Thursday’s episode.
Fallon started the video chat conversation, saying, “Congrats on expecting a baby. It’s the best news ever.”
“Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms,” Hadid said, “but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support.”
Hadid said her impending bundle of joy is a bright side to social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic: “Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it.”
Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, told the Dutch outlet RTL Boulevard that she “can’t wait to become a grandmother.”
“It’s especially special, since I lost my own mother so recently,” Hadid said in Dutch Wednesday. Ans van den Herik, the mother to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, who was affectionately called “Oma” by her grandchildren, died in late August.
Yolanda, who said Hadid is due in September, added, “That is the beauty of life: One soul leaves us and a new one is coming. We feel very blessed.”
This would be the first child for Hadid, 25, and Malik, 27, who have had an off-and-on romance. The two were first confirmed to be an item in February 2016, after the model appeared in the musician’s music video for “Pillow Talk,” from his first solo album following his 2015 split with One Direction.
