There might just be something that’s keeping Slim Shady up at night. Eminem has lately been stressing over his ex-girlfriend Mariah Carey’s upcoming memoir.
The Elusive Chanteuse took to Instagram to share the news on July 9, proudly proclaiming:
“This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side. Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”
So what’s Marshall’s problem? Well, it’s not so much fans being moved to a new understanding about the resilience of the human spirit that has him worried — it’s hearing from the betrayed woman telling her side. Unfiltered.
See, for those who don’t remember this little blip in both of the pop stars’ lives, way back in 2001 the Fantasy singer and the Stan rapper allegedly dated for about six months after meeting to discuss a collab on her Charmbracelet album.
We say “allegedly” because Mariah has publicly denied the fling, while Em has addressed it multiple times in interviews and in song, including on 2002’s Superman (“What you trying be? My new wife? / What, you Mariah? Fly through twice”).
