A woman has been charged with the murder of seven-year old Emily Jones, who was stabbed to death in a park in Bolton on Mothers’ Day.
Emergency services attended but sadly despite the best efforts of Emily’s family and medical responders, she passed away a short time later.
Eltiona Skana, 30, formerly of Turnstone Road, Bolton has been charged with the murder of Emily. She is also charged with possession of a bladed article.
She has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 26.
Bolton Coroner’s Court opened an inquest into her death on April 1.
The case has been adjourned until July 3.
A post mortem revealed that she died as a result of an incised wound of the neck.
Markland Hill Primary School pupil, Emily, was described as “beautiful inside and out” and the light of her parents’ lives.
