Elton John is taking on a GOP representative in Georgia over comments she made regarding what to do about patients with HIV. The star released a statement through his charity organization denouncing comments that people with the disease should be quarantined by the government.
John took on Georgia state representative Betty Price, who recently made comments at a public hearing inquiring about the legality of quarantining people with the disease in order to help stop it from spreading. Since then, a litany of LGBT and HIV/AIDS advocacy groups have been demanding an apology. John, who founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation, took issue with the idea of such extreme measures being discussed.
