Another 6,042 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the UK in the latest 24 hour period.
The total number of Covid-19 cases has now risen to 429,277 – with the seven-day rolling average surging by 54 per cent in a week.
Cases across the UK are continuing to soar as Scotland recorded 714 new coronavirus infections today – its highest day yet.
Northern Ireland also recorded its highest daily total for new coronavirus cases after 319 new infections were reported.
In Wales, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increased by 370 – a jump from the previous day’s 320 new cases.
Yesterday, cases rose by 6,874 in what was a new high for the second day in a row.
It means the weekly average was 5,329, up 54 per cent from a week ago with 3,466.
Saturday’s total however marks the first drop after five straight days of rises.
There were 34 more deaths recorded overnight taking the total to 41,971.
