Coronavirus UK Update: london parks closing

Parks in parts of London are shutting to visitors from Sunday night.

Hammersmith and Fulham council will close parks from Sunday night while the Royal Parks, responsible for Hyde, Regent’s and St James’ Parks, are closing kiosks and cafes.

All playgrounds are also closed until further notice.

The Royal Parks website states: “We have also made the decision, based on police advice, to start closing our roads to traffic in the outer parks (Richmond, Bushy and Greenwich Parks).

“Roads will remain open in the inner parks (Hyde, Regent’s, St James’s Parks)”

“We will keep this situation under constant review. If people do not follow social distancing guidelines, we will have no choice but to consider closing the parks.”

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has become the first US senator to test positive for coronavirus.

His office confirmed the news on social media, saying he is asymptomatic and “feeling fine.”

The senator, who is a top ally of President Donald Trump, is currently in quarantine and asymptomatic.
